Course Description

LGBTQI+ Workplace Inclusion: From Theory to Practice focuses on understanding diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace, with particular attention to the experiences and needs of LGBTQI+ people. Participants are introduced to key concepts and equal-treatment principles, examine forms of discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice, and explore how an inclusive working environment is linked to psychological safety, employee satisfaction, collaboration and performance.

The course combines conceptual understanding with applied activities, case studies, active listening, empathy exercises, role-play and conflict-management practice. In the final part, participants assess the current situation in their workplace and develop a practical Inclusive Action Plan with clear objectives, areas of intervention, responsibilities, resources, timelines, and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

  • Define inclusion and diversity and recognise their importance for LGBTQI+ people in the workplace.
  • Recognise key dimensions of LGBTQI+ identity and the forms of discrimination LGBTQI+ people may experience at work.
  • Recognise the benefits of an inclusive workplace for productivity, creativity and team cohesion.
  • Explain the impact of LGBTQI+ workplace inclusion on psychological safety, performance and employee satisfaction.
  • Distinguish stereotypes and prejudices related to the LGBTQI+ community and gender expression in the workplace.
  • Identify good practices and strategies that strengthen LGBTQI+ inclusion and assess their suitability across different work environments.
  • Apply empathy and intercultural sensitivity techniques in interactions with LGBTQI+ people at work.
  • Recognise and manage situations of discrimination or exclusion effectively, with the aim of protecting employees’ psychological safety.
  • Use communication techniques and active-listening tools to create an open and inclusive climate.
  • Apply conflict-resolution practices to situations involving diversity and gender-expression issues, strengthening dialogue and cooperation.
  • Select and adapt awareness-raising and team-empowerment strategies that support workplace harmony and acceptance.
  • Develop and apply tailored actions for creating and maintaining an inclusive and safe working environment for LGBTQI+ people.
  • Adopt attitudes of acceptance and respect towards diversity in gender identity and sexual orientation in the workplace.
  • Actively promote equality, empathy and inclusion within work teams, contributing to a supportive climate for LGBTQI+ people.
  • Support the development of a workplace culture that values and highlights diversity while promoting psychological safety and professional well-being for all employees.
