Movember is more than just growing out that mustache for the month; rather, it’s actually a global movement to grow awareness with regard to men’s health-from a mental standpoint to the prevention of cancer. This year, STANDOUT EDU signed up to participate in the cause by spreading awareness with our staff and friends in our organization to assist men in leading happier, healthier lives.
Men have various health issues, and most of them try to keep quiet about any problems they would find awkward to tell. Movember highlights these issues and thus enables men to take positive actions towards health. The following are health concerns that many men are facing in the modern world: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental disorders-all usually avoided due to the implications caused by stigma and lack of awareness.
In STANDOUTEDU we believe in supporting initiatives that help build a healthier and more informed community. This November, we raise awareness within our organization and hold open discussions around men’s health. In these openness drives, we’ll use educational materials and information-sharing to ensure our team and friends engage deeply with the topic, aiming to promote early detection, mental health support, and solidarity in the community.
Educating Resources
We are sharing pamphlets with general information on issues concerning men’s health, including commonly occurring cancers in men, such as prostate and testicular cancer. These resources will help them develop a proactive approach regarding symptoms, prevention, and screening.
Mental Health Emphasis
Men’s mental health forms an integral part of their general well-being. We’re sharing some tips about how to reduce stress, seek support, and dismantle stigma surrounding men’s conversations about mental health.
Conversations Count
We encourage open discussions as a means of creating a society that supports and empowers men to take action for their health. Be it an informal chat or a topic of in-depth conversation, every discussion counts.
Awareness is raised as a collective effort. We call on all people to enter the conversation and share information as they show support to the men in their lives. We can make much-needed impact just by merely being well informed, proactive, and supportive.
Movember is not confined to November; let us keep the conversation on about men’s health throughout the year, until every man feels safe to share the struggles he is facing and ask for support.
