New Horizons For The Blue World
Overview
This project aims to use digital technologies, such as e-learning platforms, to provide educational programs for people with ASD in order to help them develop practical skills and abilities and professional skills for employment. Besides individuals with ASD, people with mild-to-moderate mental retardation are also considered to benefit from the program.
Today we are facing a professional and social exclusion of adult people with autism, this is the reason why we have developed a team of professionals in our project that will contribute to the creation of an educational alternative that respects their learning pace and will contribute to improving their chance of employability.
So they will have the opportunity not only to integrate into the social life but also for new opportunities to develop their own personal autonomy and even to establish their own family. With the help of specialists, our role in the project is to capitalize on the potential and the qualities of adults with autism by specializing them in professional fields that fit the job profile.
It is important to include technology in the professional profile as it is a field in which the demand for work is constantly increasing. Even if we face a large number of unemployed adults with autism, we can see that they have some essential characteristics that describe them. They have skills and abilities which is an advantage in certain work environments.
Project Objectives
The project aims to develop a training program using new technologies, including an online learning platform and counseling service, specifically tailored for adults with autism. Its primary goal is to respect the learning pace of these individuals and highlight their skills to enhance their social and professional integration. This innovative project, led by a consortium of six European partners, aligns with the priorities of adult education, focusing on improving learning opportunities, social inclusion, and supporting skill acquisition.
The project plans to use accessible online training tools customized for the target audience, along with a support tool for business leaders to facilitate the employment of adults with autism. It addresses national priority themes and is expected to produce results beneficial not only to the education sector but also to other areas. Furthermore, it builds upon previous projects and demonstrates significant added value.
Key innovations include filling the gap in existing projects by addressing the professional integration of adults with autism using new technologies, providing education methods tailored for this audience, and offering tools for business leaders. The project’s innovative approach is commensurate with its scope, the expertise of participating organizations, and the specific needs of the target audience.
