Smart VET

New directions in fitness industry: Enriching and strengthening our trainers and learners’ knowledge and skills in the contemporary trends of fitness

With the project SmartVET we want to offer to the target-group of VET Educators an opportunity for professional development along with innovative tools to use in their work with their students.

According to the report “Working with young people: the value of youth work in the EU” (European Commission- EACEA, 2014), there is a high risk of unemployment for youth professionals while there is also a lack of support measures for their professional development.

Given that one third of young people in the European Union are at risk of social exclusion, we want to want to address the urging need for continuous competence development to those working with VET students.

The project will find, test and pilot open source innovative digital tools to improve VET Educators in the use of ICT tools for the development of key competences. These tools include suites of train-the-trainer materials, E-Learning Portals, creative apps and suites of prototype tools developed and can be used for free in the daily lessons.

The project’s activities are:

  • to implement the development of SmartVET Handbook, including all selected good practices, educational material, new curricula with innovative methods and tools
  • to implement dissemination activities
  • to create a Video with the experiences of all participants in the project that will contain excerpts from all phases of project implementation, with simultaneous small interviews of participants and executives.

The project implementation methodology is based on the immediacy of identifying participants’ needs, adaptation of products to these needs, the implementation of actions with the direct involvement of participants and the production of final products and results that are publicly available at any time.

The objectives of the project are:

  • To provide training to VET Educators,
  • To bring VET students in touch with good practices in ICT tools,
  • Identify VET students in the effectiveness of ICT implementation practices,
  • To inform VET students of the possibilities offered to them,
  • To give VET Educators the opportunity to broaden their network of acquaintances and acquire relationships that will help them in the future in their professional career,
  • Reinforce contact between different business cultures among project partners and contact with different environments,
  • Strengthen in general young people who are a population group affected by the effects of the economic crisis.

The expected results at the completion of the project are:

  • Recognizing the need to empower VET students so that they feel that there is an interest from actors to address their needs and tackle them,
  • The training of VET Educators and the transfer of good practices to them,
  • The training and the exchange of know-how and good practices among VET Educators and the employees of the participating bodies shall participate in the project,
  • Developing a partnership relationship between the project partners that exceeds the project implementation time,
  • Develop the necessary mechanism to disseminate good practices to local partner groups and to local communities,
  • Dissemination of good practices, results and project guidelines in regions not directly involved in the program,
  • The multiplication of the results of this project in other EU regions.
